Meet Ken...

I'm Ken Freedman and I'm standing for Orange City Council because I believe that Orange deserves a Council which represents the diversity present in our vibrant community.

I saw the hatred and division whipped up by a couple of Councillors who tried to cancel our city's first Rainbow Festival, and I was appalled, but I was also inspired by those Councillors who showed true leadership and integrity by calling out the bigotry and standing up to hate. That is why I chose to stand with Councillor McDonell.

I'm Orange born and raised. I'm a father, a partner, a leader and a business owner.

I have strong connections within the local and regional business community. I have a strong background in governance and risk management with a proven track record in balancing efficiency with fiscal responsibility especially regarding managing public funds. A resilient local economy supports investment and innovation and is positioned to seize opportunities, and capable of handling challenges.

Supporting, educating and celebrating our diverse community will lead to a stronger local economy. Our Councillors should represent the breadth and depth of our community. While opinions may differ, our democracy allows us to voice those views, but we have a responsibility to do so respectfully. That way our community can stay active, vibrant and connected.

As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I believe in supporting and celebrating diversity in all its forms, and the Orange community deserves leadership which embraces this and leads accordingly.
